The community health environment includes the services (health, social and educational) and information that community members need in order to stay healthy and safe. Health care, social services, and educational opportunities that are accessible, affordable culturally competent, and of high quality will have the greatest impact in terms of preventing conditions that challenge health. People who are isolated by language, literacy, lack of technology or other factors often have difficultly connecting with health and social resources, educational resources and needed safety information or emergency alerts. The community health environment in a Livable Community is inclusive and meets the needs of its residents throughout their lives.

Local services cater to a wide variety of community needs, ranging from child care to medical services, that tie to residents' well-being and longevity.
