Fresno County Core Metrics

The indicators were chosen because they have "the greatest potential to have a positive effect on the health and well-being of the population and each individual within it, now and in the years to come."

The Core Measures set organizes the set of 16 indicators into four domains. The findings from the indicators in each domain are summarized below. A fifth domain is also included that was chosen by a group of community-based stakeholders. 

Healthy People

Fresno County is about the same as the state average in the following Healthy People domain indicator:

Addiction death rate

Fresno county is doing worse than the state average in these areas:

Adults with fair or poor health 

Adults with obesity

Life expectancy

High school graduation rate

Teen pregnancy

Care Cost

Fresno County spends less money per capita on Medi-Cal (Medicaid) healthcare expenses than the state, on average. 

Fresno County receives less money per enrollee for Medicare reimbursements (Parts A and B) than the state, on average.

Active Transportation

Representatives from community-based organizations and government agencies in Fresno County came together and chose to add a fifth domain, Active Transportation, to the Core Measures set for Fresno County. 

Fresno County is doing about the same as the state overall in the percentage of residents biking or walking to commute to work.
